About us
The school
TC Taekwondo trained in Miami Beach for years. Now it opens on Carretera a El Salvador, with the same coaching staff and the same plan.
From Miami to Guatemala
TC-Taekwondo, Team Castillo Taekwondo, built its track record in Miami Beach as one of the most notable high-performance academies, under the direction of Master Juan Castillo.
Across its history in the United States, the program proved its effectiveness preparing competitive athletes for national and international tournaments, earning recognition through discipline, passion and a focus on physical and mental development, in a family environment.
The Carretera a El Salvador location opens with that entire program: traditional Taekwondo and Olympic Taekwondo, from age six through adults starting from zero.
What isn't negotiable
01
Respect
You bow in and you bow out. To the instructor and to your partner. Inside the dojang and outside it.
02
Effort
Nobody has to be the best in the group. Everybody has to train better than they did last class.
03
Consistency
It is the unbreakable commitment to train with daily discipline, overcoming fatigue and the mind to reach excellence.
04
The five tenets
Courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit. They are not decoration for the bow: they are the criteria a student is judged by.
Leadership
Master Castillo runs the academy on one idea that runs through the whole program: athletic performance and academic performance are demanded together.
01
Sport alongside education
He holds that high performance has to advance hand in hand with study. He pushes science and mathematics among his athletes, to build logical thinking inside and outside the dojang.
02
Competition as a tool
Facing real competitive challenges tempers character: it teaches handling pressure, overcoming frustration and seeking continuous improvement, on the mat and in the classroom.
03
Strict academic standards
Under his guidance, keeping good grades is a requirement. Competitive drive has to show up in school or university performance too.
04
Pushing higher education
He actively encourages students not to pause or drop their university careers. The goal is to build champions who are also trained professionals.
Instructors
The same coaching staff that ran the competition team in Miami Beach.
